Fast sell:
An intense “home invasion” shocker in the tradition of “Funny Games”, “Straw Dogs” and “Mother’s Day”, director Miguel Angel Vivas’ award-winning “Kidnapped” is an uncompromising horror-thriller of almost unbearable, nail-biting suspense.
Synopsis:
Jaime, Marta and their daughter Isabel, a well-off family, move to a luxurious new house. On the first evening in their new home, a group of three hooded men burst into the house. Their objective: to get as much money as possible out of them in one night.
We like it because:
The winner of Best Horror Feature and Best Director awards at the prestigious Austin Fantastic Fest, “Kidnapped” is a thrilling masterclass in how to keep cinema audiences on the edge of their seats. Technically brilliant in its use of revealing, De Palma-eque split-screen sequences and composed of just 12 continuous shots throughout its running time, the film marks Miguel Angel Vivas as a director to watch.
