Pop culture phenomenon Sharknado is the franchise that keeps on giving and the fourth instalment doesn’t disappoint. Thunder Levin (the Sharknado series)

Cast
Ian Ziering (the Sharknado series, 90210)

Synopsis:

After a blissful few years sharknado free, Fin (Ian Ziering, the Sharknado series, 90210) and April (Tara Reid, the Sharknado series, American Pie) have to face their bloodiest sharknado attack yet!

What happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas... unless what’s happening is a giant whirlwind of sharks and nados! When the sharknados are whipped up in ways least expected, it seems there’s no escaping the razor-toothed monsters! As the beasts strike, Fin is thrown back into action, and compelled to take up the chainsaw once more in a cross-country race to save his family and the world! With the return of David “The Hoff” Hasselhoff, and tantalising new additions, prepare yourself for the skin-tearing, blood-spurting, biting-bonanza... Sharknado: The 4th Awakens!

We like it because:

Sharknado: The 4th Awakens treats nothing as sacred and everything from Star Wars and Terminator 2 to The Wizard of Oz and Gone With the Wind are ripe for a lovingly jokey reference or two. And any film that can work in references to both Star Wars and Gone With the Wind has got to be good.

But that’s nothing to how much Sharknado: The 4th Awakens riffs on itself and other films in the SyFy stable, constantly pushing the boundaries of action logic and plain old physics. Sharks, for instance, are soooo Sharknado 3 so this time we see bouldernados, hailnados, firenados and cownados. Yep, that’s right, cownados. Cow. Nados. We’ll just leave that one to sink in.

Of course, part of the joy of watching a Sharknado movie is the great names the franchise attracts as a result. Sharknado veterans Ian Ziering and Tara Reid return (the result of an #AprilLives or #AprilDies campaign after her apparent death in Sharknado 3), while The Hoff himself returns as Fin’s father, last seen on the moon. Newcomers to the cast include the legendary Gary Busey as April’s scientist father, Wilford, and there’s a host of cameos from famous faces for you to spot as you watch.

Whether you’re a Sharknado super-fan like us, or your nado cherry is still to be popped, Sharknado: The 4th Awakens is probably the most fun you can have on your sofa while eating popcorn.
