Hollywood hardman superstar Jason Statham returns as the elite, globe-trotting hitman in this slam bang, full throttle sequel to the 2011 box office smash, starring Jessica Alba and Tommy Lee Jones, and featuring astounding set pieces, exotic locations and non-stop action.

Key talent:

Jason Statham (The Expendables, Crank, The Transporter, Fast & Furious 6, Snatch)

Jessica Alba (Sin City, Fantastic Four, Machete)

Tommy Lee Jones (No Country For Old Men, Men In Black, Jason Bourne, The Fugitive)

Michelle Yeoh (Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon, Tomorrow Never Dies)

Sam Hazeldine (Peaky Blinders, ‘71, The Huntsman: Winter’s War)

Dennis Gansel (Director, The Wave, We Are The Night)

Synopsis:

The world’s number one hit man, Arthur Bishop, aka ‘the mechanic’, is settling into retirement, when a vicious crime boss, Crain, offers him an assignment. After Bishop turns him down, Crain kidnaps Bishop’s girlfriend Gina, and sets him
a near-impossible task to get her back: he must kill three of Crain’s enemies - including an arms dealer and a genocidal warlord. If he doesn’t, Gina dies.

Racing against time, Bishop embarks on a breakneck mission across the continents, to complete the three assassinations in his trademark style - by making them look like accidents.

We like it because:

When it comes to no nonsense, revenge-fuelled action cinema, you can’t go wrong with Jason Statham (Transporter, Crank). Recalling the likes of action epics Cobra and Commando, pumped out by Stallone and Schwarzenegger in the Eighties, Mechanic: Resurrection is a brash, flash brutal good time, filmed across the globe in Australia, Thailand and Brazil, and also starring Sin City’s Jessica Alba and brilliant British actor Sam Hazeldine (Peaky Blinders).

And who can resist Oscar-winning Hollywood legend Tommy Lee Jones (The Fugitive), as the most memorable villain this side of a James Bond film? In Mechanic: Resurrection he nearly steals the show, delivering lines like “I didn’t imagine having to die would be so damn invigorating!” with gleeful relish.

The sequel takes things up to few notches from The Mechanic, the hit film from 2011 - this time around, Dennis Gansel (director of cult action horror hit We Are The Night) has Statham climb up the side of a skyscraper Mission: Impossible-style, leap off a cable-car onto a hang glider and take down a platoon of goons single-handedly in a submarine silo. And there’s a superbly staged showdown on a yacht that is the definition of ‘kick-ass’.

After this breath-taking, wildly entertaining adrenalin-charged 100 minutes, you’ll be clamouring for a third Mechanic movie, and more of Statham’s deadpan charisma and white knuckle skills. Who needs Bond, when you’ve got Bishop?

Hot Quotes:

“A bite-sized Bond film, or maybe a grittier homicidal knockoff of the Mission: Impossible series, with a lone-wolf renegade as the entire team.” Variety
