Written and directed by the beloved manga’s original creator Takehiko Inoue, The First SLAM DUNK follows the underdog Shohoku High School’s basketball team through the eyes of point guard Ryota Miyagi as they face stunning rivals in the final of the National High School Tournament in a narrative that simultaneously explores the tumultuous past of its players.

The film was celebrated for its cutting edge 3D-2D hybrid animation that EMPIRE called “captivatingly immersive”, and “flows like water” in the words of Sight & Sound. The film won Animation of the Year at the 46th Japan Academy Film Prize, and was nominated for awards including the Technical Achievement Award at the 44th London Film Critics’ Circle Awards, and Best Film at the 8th Crunchyroll Anime Awards.

Dedicated to their mission of bringing definitive collectors editions to fans, Anime Limited invites you to experience the pulse-racing excitement in all its glory with the Collector’s Edition 4K UHD + Blu-ray and Zavvi exclusive Limited Edition 4K UHD + Blu-ray Steelbook that feature Dolby Vision HDR and Dolby Atmos audio for both the original Japanese and English-dubbed languages. The film will also be available on Blu-ray and DVD.

The Collector’s Edition 4K UHD + Blu-ray comes packed in a rigid slipcase, inside of which is an Amaray case to hold both the 4K UHD and standard Blu-ray discs. Also included is an individually numbered collector’s art card, a sticker sheet, and an A3 poster, as well as a 36-page booklet revisiting the production and release of the film with comments from director and original creator Takahiko Inoue.

Synopsis:
Shohoku's “speedster” and point guard, Ryota Miyagi, always plays with brains and lightning speed, running circles around his opponents while feigning composure. Born and raised in Okinawa, Ryota had a brother who was three years older. Following in the footsteps of his older brother, who was a famous local player from a young age, Ryota also became addicted to basketball.
In his second year of high school, Ryota plays with the Shohoku High School basketball team along with Sakuragi, Rukawa, Akagi, and Mitsui as they take the stage at the Inter-High School National Championship.

Now, they are on the brink of challenging the reigning champions, Sannoh Kogyo High School.
