Mediumrare Entertainment announces the searing drama THE FORGIVEN is being released on DVD and Blu-ray on 12 December 2022.

Award-winning director John Michael McDonagh (The Guard, Calvary, War on Everyone) has lined up a formidable cast for his powerful tale of tragedy and redemption set in Morocco. Leading actors Ralph Fiennes (BAFTA-winner for Schindler’s List) and Jessica Chastain (Oscar-winner for The Eyes of Tammy Faye) are joined by Matt Smith (House of the Dragon), Christopher Abbott (Possessor), Abby Lee (The Neon Demon), Caleb Landry Jones (Get Out) and Saïd Taghmaoui (Wonder Woman) for a compulsive drama that plays out against a foreboding desert backdrop.

Written by McDonagh and based on the bestselling book by Lawrence Osborne, THE FORGIVEN is an unflinching look at the perils of Great Gatsby-esque Western decadence that recalls the likes of White Mischief and The Sheltering Sky, and Variety describes as a “thorny modern parable”.

Speeding through the Moroccan desert to attend an old friend’s lavish weekend party, wealthy Londoners David and Jo Henninger (Ralph Fiennes and Jessica Chastain) are involved in a tragic accident with a local teenage boy. Arriving late at the grand villa with the debauched party raging, the couple attempts to cover up the incident with the collusion of the local police. But when the boy’s father arrives seeking justice, the stage is set for a tension-filled culture clash in which David and Jo must come to terms with their fateful act and its shattering consequences.
