IN JUNE, ARROW PRESENTS SPELLBINDING HORROR, A SLASHER CLASSIC, ITALIAN CRIME DRAMA, QUARXX SELECTS & MUCH MORE

Not to be missed in June on the expertly curated cult streaming service ARROW - the beguiling and atmospheric supernatural drama Nightsiren, exclusive to ARROW, gore galore in Madman, writer/director Quarxx picks his ARROW favourites, B-movie brilliance from Nico Mastorakis, killer shorts, Italian crime series Gomorrah Season 5, and more.

In June, exclusively on ARROW, the brand new title Nightsiren, from writer and director Tereza Nvotová. Following her 2017 debut feature Filthy, Nvotová returns with a spellbinding contemporary drama that expertly blends psychological and supernatural horror to explore the intersections of misogyny and religious zealotry. Nightsiren is a captivating experience which has wowed audiences and critics alike on the international festival circuit, including Locarno where it won the Golden Leopard – Filmmakers of the Present award. Be sure to watch this superb effort from one of the most exciting new voices in cinema, only on ARROW!

As well as a season of slashers in June, keep an eye out for Madman, one of the finest offerings from the golden age of hack ‘n’ slash. Inspired by the same Cropsey urban legend which informed 1981’s The Burning, and starring Dawn of the Dead’s Gaylen Ross, it’s the tale of Madman Marz, embarking on a terrifying night of murder and mayhem with young campers as his victims.

June sees a trio of terrific films from B-movie supremo Nico Mastorakis - The Time Traveller has Mastorakis showing a more thoughtful side, with a sci-fi drama starring genre legends Adrienne Barbeau (The Fog) and KeIr Dullea (2001: A Space Odyssey); the wacky adventure comedy Sky High, that sees three American jocks getting up to their necks in mayhem in Greece; and Glitch!, where a pair of thieves get more than they bargained for when they rob a fancy mansion.

Lastly in June on ARROW, Season 5 of the outstanding Italian crime drama Gomorrah, that follows on from the shocking and controversial 2008 film based on Roberto Saviano's book, a non-fiction account of crime syndicates in southern Italy. The epic saga of the Camorra crime syndicate concludes in its most thrilling and compelling season yet, with Naples’ seedy underbelly on the brink of all out war - the Levantes have sworn revenge against the Camorra and all hell is about to break loose. Salvatore Esposito and Alessandro Palladino star in with ten action and intrigue packed episodes.

JUNE TITLES - IN DEPTH

EXCLUSIVE FROM JUNE 3: NIGHTSIREN (2022)

Following her 2017 debut feature Filthy, writer and director Tereza Nvotová returns with Nightsiren, a spellbinding contemporary drama that expertly blends psychological and supernatural horror to explore the intersections of misogyny and religious zealotry. In the wake of a tragic past, Šarlota (Natália Germáni) returns to her mountainous hometown after years of absence. After befriending Mira (Eva Mores), a spirited young herbalist, Šarlota stumbles upon the forgotten tale of an ancient witch and a wild child. Together, they embark on a quest to unearth the village's buried secrets. But as Šarlota delves deeper into the mysteries, she becomes entangled in a web of ancient legends turned reality. Accused of witchcraft and murder by fearful villagers, she must explore the darkness at the heart of the town to clear her name and confront the shadows of her past. Tereza Nvotová has created a captivating cinematic experience which has wowed audiences and critics alike on the international festival circuit, including Locarno where it won the Golden Leopard - Filmmakers of the Present award. FROM JUNE 24: MADMAN (1981)

Gather around the campfire, and hear the tale of Madman Marz – an ill-tempered farmer who, one dark night, chopped up his wife and two children into pieces. When the locals learned of his heinous crimes, they exacted revenge – sinking an axe into his head and hanging him from a nearby tree. But the next day, Marz’s body was gone...

Thus the camp counsellor finishes his tale, closing with the warning never to say Marz’s name above a whisper, lest the hideously-deformed farmer comes looking for them. Naturally, the first thing that one of the young campers does is calls out Marz’s name – precipitating a terrifying night of murder, mayhem and sexy Jacuzzi vignettes!
